The Fat Fox Inn is located at the centre of the small attractive medieval market town of Watlington with rolling views of the Chiltern Hills, an area of outstanding natural beauty.  The Town is steeped in history and is first recorded as a Saxon settlement in the 8th Century, but the discoveries of a Bronze Age Axe and Roman Coins suggest an earlier past. In addition to being on the doorstep to the Chilterns it also benefits from the nearby Ridgeway; a National trail running along the town’s east border. There are numerous National Trust Properties near Watlington.

Aston Rowant National Nature Reserve

West Wycombe Hellfire Caves

A tour down the haunted caves takes you along deep winding
passages which extend over a quarter of a mile underground
and lead past various small chambers to the Banqueting
Hall, and then further down over the River Styx. According
to mythology this River separated the living world from the

The Ridgeway
